How to organise your child’s photos
Most parents have thousands of photos and can find almost none of them. You don’t need a perfect system — just a few habits that stick.
-
1. Start with this month, not the backlog
Sorting years of photos at once is how projects stall. Organise the current month first; work backwards only when you have time.
-
2. Keep ten, not a hundred
For each week or occasion, keep the handful that say the most. Fewer photos are easier to find and far more likely to be looked at again.
-
3. Group by moment, not by date
A birthday, a first swim, a visit from grandparents. Moments are how you’ll remember things later, so they are how you should look for them.
-
4. Add one line of context
Who was there, what they said, why it mattered. A sentence turns a photo you’ll scroll past into one you’ll stop at.
-
5. Put everything in one place
Photos spread across phones, chats and cloud folders get lost. Choose a single home for your child’s memories and send the best ones there.
-
6. Make it a monthly habit
Twenty minutes at the end of each month is enough to stay on top of it — and gives you a moment to look back.
